Isobel and the Coverdale WWI Veterans Project

Created by Val 3 years ago
When I suggested that we research the lives of Coverdale WWI veterans listed on the plaque in Carlton Memorial Village Hall, Isobel was - of course - up for the challenge.

With her usual charming but dogged determination Isobel tracked down information at home and abroad, persuading families to search for stories and photographs of their war heroes. To mark the centenary of the end of WWI, the profiles were displayed in the village hall along with other old photos of Carlton. We hoped a few people would come along. (See gallery photo.)

We had a great day, the turn-out was amazing, and Isobel was in her element, chatting to locals and visitors alike. It was a happy community event and how I will  remember Isobel - doing what she loved, surrounded by family and friends on a glorious sunny day in her beloved Coverdale.
